29-09-2022
PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk (SBI) Cilacap factory which is a business unit of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) won the 2022 ASEAN Energy Awards (AEA) as 2nd Runner Up, Large Industries subcategory, Energy Management in Buildings and Industries category. The announcement of the winners and the presentation of the awards were carried out virtually during the series of activities of the 40th ASEAN Minister on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and ASEAN Energy Business Forum in Cambodia, Thursday (15/9).
The success in obtaining this award cannot be separated from the Cilacap Factory SBI initiative in implementing an energy conservation program with ISO 50001:2018 standards, namely standards for managing energy performance including energy efficiency and consumption, using a Management System model with a PDCA cycle approach (Plan, Do, Check, Action). ) for continuous improvement.
SIG Corporate Secretary Vita Mahreyni said that the award was the result of the company's commitment to implementing energy efficiency and conservation in the production process implemented at the Cilacap Factory. This award is also proof that the energy efficiency and conservation efforts carried out by GIS are in accordance with international standard environmental conservation principles.
In its production process, SIG utilizes urban waste in a facility located in Tritih Lor, Jeruklegi District, Cilacap Regency as an alternative fuel (RDF) in the manufacture of cement at the SBI factory in Cilacap. Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) technology is a sustainable waste management effort that is able to convert waste into renewable alternative energy and can reduce CO2 emissions.
According to him, the municipal solid waste (MSW) facility into RDF is capable of managing 160 tons of domestic waste per day, which can produce 70 tons of RDF. Meanwhile, RDF will be able to replace the use of coal up to 5-6%. "Utilizing waste into alternative fuel is a solution for the maintenance and better management of the community's environment," said Vita Mahreyni.
"This award is a form of appreciation as well as motivation for us to provide solutions that not only meet stakeholder expectations, but become a driving force in the growth of the building material industry that pays attention to sustainability," said Vita Mahreyni.
For information, at the 2022 ASEAN Energy Awards, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources sent 13 proposals which were the winners of the 2021 Subroto Energy Efficiency Award. Indonesia won 10 awards from various categories. SBI Cilacap factory became one of 10 companies from Indonesia that won the award.
The ASEAN Energy Awards is an annual ASEAN event that has been held since 2000. This activity is organized by the ASEAN Center for Energy (ACE) in the field of new renewable energy and energy conservation, in order to promote the use of new and renewable energy and the implementation of energy efficiency and conservation at the regional level. ASEAN. The AEA is divided into 3 categories, namely the ASEAN Coal Awards, the ASEAN Energy Efficiency and Conservation Best Practices Awards, and the ASEAN Renewable Energy Project Awards. The ASEAN Energy Efficiency and Conservation Best Practices Awards consist of 3 sub categories namely Energy Efficient Buildings and Green Buildings which aim to promote awareness about energy efficiency in buildings and to encourage private sector participation; Zero Energy Building (ZEB) which aims to accelerate the movement of ZEB in ASEAN countries and to promote and accelerate the implementation of ZEB and evaluation of the implementation of ZEB in reducing CO2 Emissions; and Energy Management in Buildings and Industries which aims to promote and disseminate best practices in energy management demonstrated or applied in buildings and industries in ASEAN member countries.
