24-01-2024
The Sleman Regency Government (Pemkab) made the first delivery of 30 tons of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) to PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk (SBI) Cilacap Factory, Central Java. The RDF produced at Tamanmartani TPST, Kalasan, Sleman Regency, DI Yogyakarta will then be used in the cement production process at the Cilacap Factory as a substitute for coal fuel.
Previously, SBI and the Sleman Regency Government had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the utilization of RDF resulting from waste processing at the Sleman Regency integrated waste processing site on November 13, 2023.
The first delivery of RDF to the SBI Cilacap Factory was marked by a procession of breaking jugs with the DI Yogyakarta Regional Secretary, Beny Suharsono in front of the RDF transport truck in the Tamanmartani TPST area on Tuesday (23/1/2024). The event was also attended by the President Director of SBI, Lilik Unggul Raharjo and the Director of Human Capital, Legal and Corporate Affairs of SBI, Ony Suprihartono.
SIG Corporate Secretary, Vita Mahreyni said, the delivery of RDF to the SBI Cilacap Factory was a realization of the collaboration between SBI and the Sleman Regency Government in utilizing RDF. This collaboration further emphasizes the Company's commitment to supporting local governments in overcoming urban waste problems using circular economy principles to create a clean and healthy environment, while also helping the Company obtain alternative energy sources to reduce the use of fossil fuels so that they are more environmentally friendly.
"The use of RDF in the cement production process at the SBI Cilacap Factory is a strategic step to support PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) as the parent company, in accelerating the achievement of carbon emission reduction targets by increasing thermal energy substitution or thermal substitution rate (TSR), as stated in the SIG Sustainabiliy Road Map 2030," said Vita Mahreyni.
Vita Mahreyni said that the collaboration between SBI and the Sleman Regency Government would last for 3 years. After this initial delivery, the Sleman Regency Government will send RDF via several alternative modes of transportation. One of them is a train that will transport 100 tons of RDF per day to the SBI Cilacap Factory.
Apart from Sleman Regency, cooperation in utilizing RDF has also been carried out by SBI with various other regions in Indonesia, such as Cilacap Regency, Banyumas Regency, DKI Jakarta Province, and waste managers in Bali Province. Meanwhile, for Banda Aceh City, Aceh Besar Regency and Temanggung Regency, they are still waiting for further implementation
