The Ministry of Industry Designates the PT Semen Gresik Factory in Rembang as a National Vital Object in the Industrial Sector

The Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenperin RI) has designated the factory operated by a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), namely PT Semen Gresik which is located in Rembang, as a National Vital Object (Obvitnas) in the Industrial Sector. This decree is contained in the Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Industry Decree Number 4783 of 2023 on November 16 2023.

The PT Semen Gresik factory in Rembang was designated as Obvitnas because it was considered to contribute positively in fulfilling important needs for people's welfare or controlling the livelihoods of many people, as well as playing a role in increasing or producing added value from strategic natural resources.

SIG Corporate Secretary, Vita Mahreyni, said that the designation of the PT Semen Gresik factory in Rembang as Obvitnas was the government's real recognition and support for the company's strategic role in supporting national industrial growth. "SIG appreciates the designation of the PT Semen Gresik factory in Rembang as Obvitnas by the Ministry of Industry. This is a strategic steps to support operations, so that PT Semen Gresik can continue to contribute to the development in Indonesia and provide maximum benefits to the nation and state," said Vita Mahreyni.

Furthermore, Vita added that the PT Semen Gresik factory in Rembang operates with the support of the latest international standard technology operated by the best human resources to produce high quality and eco-friendly cement.

Apart from supporting local development and progress through economic contributions, both from taxes and levies, the Company is also a driving force for community empowerment programs around the operational areas. To date, PT Semen Gresik is recorded as the highest contributor to taxes and levies in Rembang Regency, Central Java.

Meanwhile, community empowerment is carried out through various programs, including the environmental sector through the Integrated Edupark & Agriculture, Plantation and Farm (P4T) program, the infrastructure development sector in six villages around the company through the Civil Society Forum (FMM) program, the agricultural sector by establishing Semen Gresik Friends of the Farmers (SGSP), the arts sector through Semen Gresik Friends of the Arts (SGSS), as well as the Empowerment of MSMEs Upgrading program through Rumah BUMN (RB) Rembang.

Since its founding in August 2020 to December 2023, RB Rembang has fostered and helped 371 MSMEs to go to the next grade by absorbing the labor of 1,527 people. RB Rembang also managed to record transactions reaching IDR 3 billion during its three years of operation.
