CEO of SIG, Donny Arsal, Receives Top Leader on CSR Commitment 2023 Award

– The commitment of SIG to effective and high-quality corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs with a Creating Shared Value (CSV) approach has been appreciated once again. The company received twelve awards at the Top CSR Awards 2023 held at the Raffles Hotel in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

As a strategic holding company with several subsidiaries in the building materials industry, SIG received two awards: the Top CSR Awards 2023 Star 5 and the Top Leader on CSR Commitment. The Star 5 award was given to SIG for its excellent CSR policy and governance system, which aligns with the company's business strategy for sustainable growth and sets an example for other companies.

The Top Leader on CSR Commitment 2023 award was given upon Donny Arsal, the CEO of SIG, for his strong commitment in supporting the completeness of the CSR system, governance, and successful implementation of CSR programs within the company.

During the Top CSR Awards 2023, one of SIG subsidiary, PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk (SBI), received ten awards at the corporate level and four awards for its managed plants. These accolades included five Top Leader on CSR Commitment 2023, two Top CSR Awards 2023 Star 5, and three Top CSR Awards 2023 Star 4.

Corporate Secretary of SIG, Vita Mahreyni, stated that the company is committed to maintaining a balance between development progress, environmental preservation, and community welfare, as reflected in its three sustainability pillars. SIG aims to promote sustainable solutions and innovations while protecting the environment and creating shared value for the company and the community.

"SIG continues to innovate by creating effective and high-quality CSR programs with a CSV approach to optimize the benefits that can be directly felt by the community. These efforts are in line with the company's business strategy to support sustainable growth and resilience in the future," said Vita Mahreyni.

One of SIG's CSR innovation program is the establishment of PT Sinergi Mitra Operasi Rembang (SMOR), a joint venture between PT Semen Gresik (a subsidiary of SIG) and six Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes). SMOR serves as a model for a joint venture between state-owned and village-owned enterprises, the first of its kind in Indonesia. The establishment of SMOR was initiated by SIG to enhance the management of village potential for the welfare and empowerment of the communities around the Rembang Factory.

According to Vita Mahreyni, six BUMDes which involved in PT SMOR are engaged in various supply chain activities for the Rembang Factory, including cleaning services, maintenance, labor provision, and transportation management.

Another noteworthy CSR program of SBI is its collaboration with the Baruwani Waste Management Group in Cilacap. This collaboration led SBI to become the only cement company to receive the Gold PROPER (Environmental Performance Rating Program) from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia in 2022. The collaboration facilitates the recycling of waste and utilizes non-recyclable waste as alternative fuel, along with other municipal waste, through the RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) facility in Cilacap, as a substitute for coal in SBI's cement plant.

"Both of these CSR program innovations have provided significant benefits to the community and the environment. They have fostered collaboration and built a positive social relationship between the company and the community, resulting in support for our operational activities," said Vita Mahreyni.

The Top CSR Awards is an evaluation and award event recognizing CSR efforts of companies operating in Indonesia. The theme for the Top CSR Awards 2023 is "CSR Innovation Programs for Sustainable Business Growth."

The evaluation for the Top CSR Awards 2023 is based on ISO 26000, Good Corporate Governance (GCG), and the company's business strategy. Award-winning companies are recognized for their successful implementation of effective and high-quality Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER), and Community Development programs.
